Meet Joanna

Hi, I’m Joanna. My journey to creating Mindful Futures for Children has been shaped by years of working with children, professional training and experiences close to my own heart. It’s given me a real understanding of just how much the right support, at the right time, can matter.

For over 10 years, I've worked alongside children with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, Tourette syndrome, anxiety, trauma and emotional regulation difficulties. Throughout those years, I've seen first-hand how many children carry worries, overwhelm and emotions that they simply don't yet have the tools to understand or express.

As well as my professional experience, I'm also a parent of children with additional needs. That personal journey has given me a deeper understanding of the challenges many families face and the importance of creating a safe, calm and accepting environment where children feel truly seen and heard.

Why I Started Mindful Futures for Children

Mindful Futures for Children was created because I could see a growing need for early emotional support that goes beyond simply managing behaviour.

During my years working with children, I met so many who were anxious, overwhelmed, struggling with friendships, navigating change or finding everyday life more difficult than those around them. Often, these children weren't "being difficult" – they simply didn't yet have the tools to understand what was happening inside their minds and bodies.

As both a professional and a parent, I know how heartbreaking it can be to watch a child struggle while wanting to help but not always knowing how.

I wanted to create a space where children feel safe, understood and accepted exactly as they are.

A place where they can slow down, explore their emotions without judgement and learn practical mindfulness techniques that help them build confidence, emotional resilience and a sense of calm that they can carry with them throughout life.

My vision has always been simple: if we can give children these skills early,
we can help shape happier, healthier futures.

A Calm, Nurturing Space

A safe enviroment where children can explode their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgement

For me, success isn't about children sitting perfectly still or behaving differently. It's about helping them understand themselves, build confidence and feel empowered to navigate the world in a way that works for them.

EMPOWERMENT

My goal isn't to solve every problem for a child; it's to equip them with practical skills and confidence so they can navigate challenges independently.

COLLABORATION

The greatest outcomes happen when parents, schools and professionals work together to support the child.

Above all, I believe every child has the potential to flourish when they feel safe, valued and understood.

A Personal Promise

Above everything else, I genuinely care.

I know how much trust it takes for a parent or school to place a child in someone else's care, and I never take that responsibility for granted.

When I'm working with a child, my focus isn't just on the difficulties they're experiencing,
it's on recognising their strengths, celebrating their progress and helping them discover what makes them unique.

Every child should leave feeling a little calmer, a little more confident and knowing that they are enough, exactly as they are.

Let’s Help Your Child Build a Brighter Future

Sometimes, knowing where to start is the hardest part. You don’t need to know exactly what support the child needs before getting in touch — that’s something we can explore together.

No pressure. No one-size-fits-all approach. Just a conversation about the child and what could come next.
